Hitachi comes up in down town Sydney
Heavy haulage and machinery photographer Martin Grant from Sydney, Australia, is often out and about in the city catching snaps of machines and trucks, some of which we have featured before on the blog. Martin has kindly shared another couple of shots with us for this blog post.
Its common place in Sydney that when building plots are re-developed, they dig down deep to facilitate the construction of an underground car park below the proposed building structure. The city itself is built on very hard sandstone and as such some big & powerful kit is required to undertake the work. It’s not uncommon to see large D9 and D10 sized tractors at work ripping in the most confined spaces in the city, used for their weight and power ratio to tackle the hard rock.
On this occasion Martin caught local heavy lift specialists Gillespies, plucking out a large Hitachi excavator owned by the Delta Group which had been dealing with the excavation work below ground level.
It’s always impressive to witness machines being lifted but even more so in the busy streets of the famous Australian city. We thank Martin for sharing these latest shots with us here on the Digger Man Blog.
