Old Abandoned Komatsu Recovered

Came across this video clip on You Tube recently and figured it would be a good one to share despite it being a bit grainy and amateur.

Information on this video is very sketchy to say the least, but apparently and somewhat incredibly, the old Komatsu D85A had been abandoned at the top of a 250-metre bluff in New Zealand, after the operator had got into trouble. It had been left there for around 15 years to rust away but some guys from Wanganui based B and F Contractors Ltd decided to recover the machine.

You can’t help but think a good set of heavy-duty chains would have been a good idea for this job, instead of tugging on the ripper with the tilting bucket on the Volvo excavator, but nevertheless, they did eventually manage to extract the classic tractor, and with some TLC once back on terra firma, they were able to fire her up and even do a bit of dozing work with her. The old machine was eventually restored as the photos at the end of the video confirm.
