Starbuck Excavation get in the Pink to Support Women in Construction

Jimmy Starbuck of Melbourne, Australia, based Starbuck Excavation has taken the initiative to support women in construction by adding the first of two Kobelco hydraulic excavators which have been painted in a stunning pink livery.

The first machine delivered is an SK135SR short radius machine, which will be operated by Taylah, will be followed by a larger SK235SR model in the same plumage. Both machines have been supplied by local dealer Melbourne Tractors and supported by Kobelco Australia.

Talking to us about the thinking behind this Jimmy said, “It mostly stems from my daughter growing up and seeing her get older.

Sadly a lot of sites we see around just aren’t very woman friendly, especially the residential housing job sites. So often I was finding taking her around the sites, that even finding a clean toilet for her to use was more often than not a big challenge, so I was keen to do something to raise awareness and to support not only our women on the team, but women in construction generally”.

Jimmy continued, “For me personally it’s a conversation starter, to show that the Starbuck Group is a supportive work place for women.

Somewhere in ten years, I’ll be proud that my daughter will be able to walk onto a site and be seen for her ability and skills rather than anything else. A pink machine and that goal being at the forefront of my mind, might just make that happen!”.

Members of the Starbuck team proudly posed in front of the new machine sporting pink and red branded workwear and don’t they all just look fantastic!

Family based Starbuck Excavations employ somewhere in the region of 80-100 employees who are engaged in digging and moving dirt on a daily basis around the state of Victoria.
