A Walkaround the 60,000th Liebherr Excavator
During our visit to Bauma earlier this year with Liebherr, we were treated to an exclusive look at the stunning R 922 hydraulic excavator which was the 60,000th machine to roll off the production line at its Colmar manufacturing facility in France.
The machine, which features artwork by Alsatian based illustrator and graffiti artist Jean Linnhoff, has since been off on a tour stopping off at various locations and dealers across Europe.
The artwork which is on a blue background as a reference to its French origins, features a map of the world, a reminder that excavators from Colmar are sold across the globe. A nice touch is that the company employees who contributed their expertise to this project were also celebrated, by having their names on the undercarriage.
Incredibly Liebherr-France SAS has been developing and producing crawler excavators at the historical site in Colmar since the year of my birth back in 1961. At the beginning, these machines were specially designed for earthmoving applications, while the range was later extended with the addition of machinery for the mining industry. Then in 2011, a dedicated production site with a clear separation between these two areas was established: Liebherr-Mining-Equipment Colmar SAS.
In this video Liebherr’s French Hydraulic Excavator Specialist gives us a walkaround of this impressive looking machine.
