Ice Cold in Ontario!
We do love a bit of Aaron Witt here on the Digger Man Blog and this cracking new video caught my eye over the weekend, so I thought I would share it for our followers to enjoy.
In this latest episode Aaron and his team travelled to Canada to visit the Stobie Mine, which is situated just outside Sudbury, Ontario, an area that is steeped in mining history, and in the depths of winter in January, temperatures drop to a staggering -29 degrees.
This mine operation had been closed for a number of years, but has more recently been revived as a surface mining operation, with the work being undertaken by the mining specialists Thiess, who we traditionally associate with mining work in Australia, so an almost unbelievable difference in working temperatures and practices.

The material they are mining here is rich in copper, nickel and cobalt, which is in high demand around the world.
It really is interesting to see how they cope and work virtually 24/7 in temperatures that are almost unimaginable to us in the UK
This is something I am keen to experience one of these days in the frozen north of Finland, and I am working on making it happen in the future.
In the meantime, enjoy the video from the one and only Aaron Witt.
