JCB/Chaseside Archive Footage #ThrowbackThursday
Our friends at JCB are back with yet another clip from their extensive historical film archives, this time featuring the JCB/Chaseside 1750 loading shovel.
JCB had taken on the Chaseside product to expand their range of construction equipment and made improvements to them before the eventual launch of the all-new JCB designed 400 series in 1972.
Following the takeover of Lancashire based loading shovel manufacturer Chaseside in 1968, production of the loaders was moved to JCB’s Staffordshire factory, and by 1969 production was in full swing in an ever-expanding Rocester.
The rear wheel steer 1750 had an operating weight of 5,000lbs (2268kgs) and was powered by a 6-cylinder Perkins diesel engine producing a power output rating of 131hp.
Its so funny to look back at the cab interiors of machines from this era, probably considered as luxurious by the fact that it had a heater inside to keep the operator warm! Things have certainly come a long way since those days.
I remember as a child riding shotgun with my dad in the JCB 3C enjoying the luxury of the heater, which was always a really good and effective feature in the JCB’s.
Enjoy the video!
