New All-Singing, All Dancing “Duck” In the South West
News reaches us from our good friend at Reeds Construction and Engineering Phillip Harper and SMT GB’s regional sales manager Richard Shelbourne about a stunning new Scandinavian inspired wheeled excavator and trailer combo.
Exeter based BT Jenkins are a long established and well-respected plant hire and contracting business in the south west. For many years now the company has run at least one wheeled excavator on the fleet and now new one has been delivered fitted with all the bells and whistles.
SMT GB has supplied the EW160E and Reeds Construction and Engineering Ltd has supplied a lot of the additional equipment.
Reeds have supplied and fitted a Steelwrist UK tiltrotator with SQ quick coupler oil connections, and also delivered work tools such as, a full set of Swedish style EMA buckets, pallet forks, ripper, tarmac cutter, and fitted SQ fittings to their existing Indeco hydraulic hammer.
The set up is completed with a top spec double axle EMA trailer and a Mittx light bar on the cab roof.
Working with the operator of this machine, Reeds carried out a number of modifications to both the machine and trailer to meet his requirements. Work on the trailer included modifying the operation of the rear tail gate, adding additional tying down points and incorporating a tool box.
On the Volvo machine itself, they manufactured a front plate to take an additional tow hook, and ran another hydraulic supply line to allow the driver to operate the trailer from either end, extra steps were also added.
All the work was conducted with close cooperation from Volvo Construction Equipment, StypeX and of course BT Jenkins.
I think you will agree, it’s a cracking set up!
