Will the Real Digger Man Please Stand Up!

I received a batch of photos from Carl Deans of Develon Europe last week, which certainly brought a smile to my face.

Carl had been visiting the Royal Welsh Show and naturally stopped by the stand of long-standing Welsh Develon (Formerly Doosan) dealers Mason Bros. While on the stand, and much to his amusement, Carl spotted a lovely new DX63 mini excavator, which has been purchased by owner operator Anthony Reynolds who calls himself ‘The Digger Man’, this got me thinking about how many other ‘The Digger Man’s’ are out there.

Well a quick search of accounts for The Digger Man on Instagram alone revealed loads of them, including the usual sprinkling of fake accounts using my face and images, a real curse on the social media platforms these days.

I first became the Digger Man (Blog) back in 2013, having left my previous host where we were just called The Digger Blog. On joining Earthmovers myself and our editor Graham Black decided to change the name to Digger Man Blog, because, even though I own the trademark for the Digger Blog, we didn’t want to get involved in a bun fight over the title.

For an owner operator with a digger, I think The Digger Man or Woman really is a fantastic marketing brand name for any small business as it just says what you do on the tin, so as to speak. One of the first ones I came across on Instagram was the @thediggermanwarwickshire who runs a Bobcat E10 and looks to be a very busy fella.
